Questions About the Music Business? Ask George

Hello fellow musicians, my name is George Madrid. I’ve been a musician in Long Beach/ Los Angeles since I was 16 (wow 20 years ago). I graduated from California State Northridge (CSUN) in 2014 with a Masters degree in Music Industry Administration.
I worked various positions, (Assistant, Tour Manager, Publishing Admin, Co Manager, pretty much anything that needed to get done) with multi Grammy award winner Stanley Clarke. In 2018 I started my own management company Madrid Music Management LLC and record label Monte Bre Records in addition to being a full time musician playing the pedal steel guitar. 

 

There are a lot of different types of jobs/hats in the music industry and I am glad to have had experience in many of them. I have been fortunate to be able to travel the world as tour manager for the Stanley Clarke Band with amazing musicians such as Lenny White, Wallace Rooney, Kamasi Washington, Cameron Graves, Taylor Graves, Beka Gochiashvili, Salar Nader and more. I have also been able to score assist Mr. Clarke on movie scores such as Barbershop 3, The Best Man Holiday, Halson (Documentary) and Woke (Hulu).

My current music projects are Manuel The Band and Katie Jo. I’ve played or performed with many other bands such as The Brook Lee Catastrophe, No Hablo/ Maker, Smoke Season, Alyssandra Nighswonger and Bootlegs of The Untitled Band. I really enjoy working with bands, artists, any creative type and being able to share any experience or expertise that I can.
